Match Report: Yeovil Town v Solihull Moors

Yeovil Town made it three games unbeaten this afternoon as they were held 0-0 with Solihull Moors at Huish Park. Solihull were the better side in the first half but Yeovil improved in the second but they weren't able to find the goal they needed to win the game. Solihull were reduced to 10 men in injury time but it didn't impact the game as Yeovil didn't have enough time to make the numerical advantage count.

Darren Sarll made three changes to the side that drew with Weymouth in midweek. Adi Yussuf, Jack Robinson and Sonny Blu Lo-Everton all dropped to the bench as Mark Little, Tom Knowles and Josh Staunton regained their places in the starting XI.

Yeovil lined up in a 4-4-2 formation with Mark Little, Luke Wilkinson, Ben Barclay and Morgan Williams in front of Grant Smith. Matt Worthington, Josh Staunton, Dale Gorman and Jordan Barnett made up the midfield while Charlie Wakefield and Tom Knowles lead the attack.

On the bench was Sonny Blu Lo-Everton, Reuben Reid, Jack Robinson, Adi Yussuf and Lawson D'Ath.

Solihull kicked off towards the home terrace.

The away side were the better team in the first half but it was Yeovil who won the first corner after 4 minutes but it wasn't taken well and was overhit.

Two minutes later Grant Smith was called into action as he was able to make an excellent close range save and pushed the ball out for a corner on the left hand side which was well defended.

Solihull continued to look the better team as the half progressed but Yeovil were doing well to prevent them from creating any clear cut chances.

Yeovil had to make their first substitution on 22 minutes as Jordan Barnett picked up an injury earlier on in the game and after a few minutes of limping around on the pitch he was unable to continue. Lawson D'Ath came on in his place.

As the half progressed Solihull weren't able to keep up their dominance that they had shown at the start and the game was going quite flat.

The best chance of the half fell to Yeovil though just before half time. Charlie Wakefield was put through 1 on 1 with Ryan Boot but he couldn't make the most of it and the goalkeeper made the save with his feet.

5 minutes of additional time was added on at the end of the half and the teams went in level at the break.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-0 Solihull Moors

Yeovil improved in the second half and were looking more up for it but they weren't able to create many opportunities.

Both sides had a number of corners in the second half but none of them caused any trouble for the opposite defence.

Yeovil made their second substitution on 71 minutes as Matt Worthington was replaced by Reuben Reid.

Five minutes later Yeovil made their final substitution as Mark Little was replaced by Jack Robinson.

With 10 minutes left to play it looked like Yeovil would be the team most likely to score but they stil weren't able to test the Solihull keeper enough.

Yeovil survived a scare on 85 minutes as shot from Jordan Cranston crashed off the post and away to safety.

Shortly after Solihull made their only substitutions of the game as Callum Maycock and Jamey Osborne were replaced by Kyle Storer and Ryan Barnett.

Three minutes of time was added on and in the 91st minute Jordan Cranston picked up his second yellow card of the afternoon and the away side were reduced to 10 men. Yeovil couldn't make the most of it though and the teams shared the points.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 0-0 Solihull Moors

This game probably won't live long in the memory of those in attendance at Huish Park today but a point against a team who are in the playoffs is certainly welcome. Yeovil just couldn't attack with any real threat today and just didn't do enough to warrant winning the game.

Yeovil's season continues on Tuesday night as we travel to face Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale. Kick off is at 7:45PM.
