Match Report: Yeovil Town v Cheddar

Yeovil Town advanced to the semi finals of the Somerset Premier Cup this evening with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cheddar at Huish Park. Alex Bradley opened the scoring on 21 minutes and shortly afterwards Sonny Blu Lo-Everton got Towns second to send Yeovil through.

Darren Sarll fielded a mixture of youth team and first team players with Jordan Barnett, Finlay Ridout, Morgan Williams and Mason Hunter in front of Max Evans. Matt Worthington, Toby Stephens, Sonny Blu Lo-Everton and Alex Bradley made up the midfield while Adi Yussuf and Reuben Reid lead the attack.

On the bench was Fin Skiverton, Samuel Hodges, Benjani Junior Mwaruwari, Callum Smalley and Josh Sutton.

Cheddar kicked off towards the home terrace.

Yeovil were in control of this fixture from start to finish and they almost took the lead on 9 minutes after a good team move was almost capped off with a finish from Adi Yussuf but his shot hit the post.

Shortly afterwards it was Cheddar's turn to hit the woodwork as a cross into the box was slightly overhit and ended up rebounding off the bar and away to safety.

With 20 minutes played Yeovil won a corner on the right hand side after a shot from distance was pushed over. It was taken short and Sonny Blu Lo-Everton was able to feed Alex Bradley who took his shot well and the ball nestled into the bottom right hand corner.

Yeovil continued to dominate and 12 minutes later they doubled the lead as Sonny Blu Lo-Everton fired a good shot past Dan Jackson in the Cheddar goal.

Two minutes later Lo-Everton almost grabbed Towns third as a shot from distance had to be tipped over the bar. The resulting corner was defended with ease.

With six minutes to go until half time it was looking likely that Yeovil would find another goal and it almost came from Alex Bradley as his curling shot was well saved for a corner on the right which was defended at the near post.

Two minutes later Toby Stephens rattled the woodwork again for Town as his shot hit the bar and the danger had gone.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 2-0 Cheddar

Cheddar made a double substitution on 55 minutes as Steve Holland and Robbi Maggs were replaced by Finlay Biggs and Nathaniel Groom.

Nine minutes later Cheddar made their final substitution as Ethan Reed was replaced by Ollie Hucker.

Yeovil continued to control the game but there were very few chances throughout the second half. The only chance of note was a shot off the post on 79 minutes from Alex Bradley.

Yeovil made a double substitution on 88 minutes as Reuben Reid and Adi Yussuf were replaced by Fin Skiverton and Sam Hodges.

One minute later they made their final substitution as Matt Worthington was replaced by Benjani Junior Mwaruwari.
