Match Report: Notts County v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town were forced to settle for a point at Meadow Lane yesterday afternoon as a goal in stoppage time from former Glover Alex Lacey cancelled out Alex Bradley's goal. After an even and mostly un-eventful first half Alex Bradley fired Yeovil ahead but Yeovil weren't able to hold onto the lead and in the 4th minute of added time Alex Lacey headed Notts level from a free kick to ensure both teams shared the points.

Darren Sarll made two changes to the side that was beaten 1-0 by Chesterfield last weekend as Matt Worthington and Adi Yussuf dropped to the bench for Dale Gorman who was back from suspension and Alex Bradley.

Yeovil lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Mark Little, Luke Wilkinson, Ben Barclay and Morgan Williams in front of Grant Smith. Alex Bradley, Josh Staunton and Dale Gorman made up the midfield while Jordan Barnett, Charlie Wakefield and Tom Knowles lead the attack.

On the bench was Matt Worthington, Reuben Reid, Sonny Blu Lo-Everton, Adi Yussuf and Lawson D'Ath.

Notts County kicked off towards the family stand.

The game was fairly even in terms of open play but Notts County had the better of the few chances that were created.

The home side came close on 10 minutes as a shot from Adam Chicksen was deflected towards goal by Kyle Wootton but Luke Wilkinson was able to block the effort on the goal line. Shortly afterwards a header from Elisha Sam was well saved by Grant Smith.

On 23 minutes County were left to rue a decent opportunity to take the lead as a good cross into the box from Carl Roberts was met by Ruben Rodrigues but his diving header was well wide of the post.

Notts County were forced to make their first substitution on 27 minutes as Kyle Cameron was replaced by former Glover Alex Lacey through injury.

The remainder of the half was fairly un-eventful and neither side looked particularly threatening. Both sides were able to pass the ball around well but the final product wasn't there and the teams went in level at half time.

Half Time: Notts County 0-0 Yeovil Town

Yeovil made the best possible start to the second half as they took the lead on 48 minutes. A misjudged header back to the goalkeeper from Ed Francis allowed Charlie Wakefield to run through 1 on 1 with Vitezslav Jaros but the keeper was able to make the save. The ball came loose to Alex Bradley and he fired the ball into the back of the net to put Yeovil ahead.

The goal sparked the home side into life and they almost equalised 4 minutes later as Carl Roberts fired the ball into the near post and Ruben Rodrigues attempted to poke the ball in but Grant Smith made the save with his feet.

Shortly afterwards a break in play was witnessed as a brawl broke out between the two sets of players after a foul from Adam Chicksen. After it was settled Alex Bradley and Adam Chicksen were both shown yellow cards.

On 58 minutes Notts County made their second substitution as Jayden Richardson was replaced by Dion Kelly-Evans.

Yeovil made their fist substitution on 66 minutes as Alex Bradley was replaced by Lawson D'Ath.

The half continued with both sides fairly even. Yeovil were able to soak up pressure from the home side and ideally needed a second goal for the game to be much more comfortable.

Both sides made substitutions on 79 minutes as Ed Francis was replaced by Kairo Mitchell for Notts and Jordan Barnett was replaced by Matt Worthington.

The final 10 minutes were uneventful and after Tom Knowles was replaced by Reuben Reid a total of nine additional minutes was signalled by the fourth official.

The 223 travelling Yeovil fans were hoping that their side would be able to hold on for the win but in the 94th minute County drew the game level. A free kick from Matt Palmer was floated into the box and Alex Lacey's free header beat Grant Smith to level the game.

The drama wasn't over yet though as Yeovil spurned a decent chance to win it but Reuben Reid was unable to control Lawson D'Ath's perfect pass and a goal scoring chance had gone.

Full Time: Notts County 1-1 Yeovil Town

A lot of Yeovil supporters would probably have taken a draw before the game but to concede so late on was disappointing. The effort that the players put in was there for all to see and once again the travelling fans stayed on to clap their team off the pitch and show their appreciation for the teams efforts but we all know that we desperately need a striker to help us kill teams off.

Yeovil's season continues on Tuesday evening as Dagenham & Redbridge are the visitors to Huish Park. Kick off is at7:45PM.
