Match Report: Yeovil Town v Dagenham & Redbridge

Yeovil Town put in a poor performance against Dagenham & Redbridge at Huish Park yesterday evening as they fell to a 3-0 defeat. A brace from Paul McCallum and a goal from Junior Morais gave the away side victory as The Glovers struggled to get into the game for the whole 90 minutes.

Darren Sarll made one change to the side that drew 1-1 with Notts County at the weekend. Olufela Olomola returned to the side as Mark Little dropped to the bench.

Yeovil lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Morgan Williams, Luke Wilkinson, Ben Barclay and Jordan Barnett in front of Grant Smith. Alex Bradley, Josh Staunton and Dale Gorman made up the midfield while Charlie Wakefield, Olufela Olomola and Tom Knowles lead the attack.

On the bench was Mark Little, Matt Worthington, Reuben Reid, Adi Yussuf and Lawson D'Ath.

Yeovil kicked off towards the home terrace.

The tone for this game was set within the first five minutes as Dagenham came close to scoring through Myles Weston but shortly afterwards they took the lead. Josh Hare's cross into the box found Paul McCallum who converted from close range.

Shortly afterwards it took a decent save from Grant Smith to prevent Dagenham increasing the lead as he pushed Dean Rance's long range shot out for a corner.

Yeovil had a chance to test the Dagenham defence on 14 minutes as Charlie Wakefield's run was halted by Elliott Johnson and a free kick was awarded just outside of the area but Dale Gorman's effort was poor and his shot hit the wall.

On 21 minutes Yeovil's evening went from bad to worse as they conceded a terrible goal. Grant Smith took a free kick just outside of the box on the left hand side but his attempted cross-field pass was intercepted by Paul McCallum and he was able to fire the ball into an empty net to double the away side's advantage.

The half continued with Yeovil looking tired as they weren't able to produce any football that would threaten the away side.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-2 Dagenham & Redbridge

The second half was equally as bad for Yeovil but this time it took Dagenham 18 minutes from the restart to get their third.

Just after Yeovil made their first substitution by replacing Alex Bradley for Lawson D'Ath the away side made it three as Junior Morais ran through on goal and fired the ball into the far corner.

Yeovil made their second substitution on 72 minutes as Olufela Olomola was replaced by Adi Yussuf.

Shortly after Dagenham made their first substitution as Junior Morais was replaced by Josh Walker.

Yeovil made their final substitution on 77 minutes as Josh Stauntonw was replaced by Matt Worthington.

The final 10 minutes dragged by - as had much of the game in all honesty - but with Yeovil playing so poorly and the atmosphere inside the ground so flat it was almost becoming a chore to watch.

Dagenham made their second substitution on 89 minutes as Mohammed Sagaf was replaced by Matt Robinson.

Four minutes of time was added on and after Dagenham replaced Paul McCallum with Ibby Akanbi the referee put us out of our misery and finished the game.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 0-3 Dagenham & Redbrigde

The performance yesterday was probably just as bad as the one against Needham Market in the FA Trophy in January. The players looked so tired and just couldn't get going all night. A much better performance is going to be needed on Saturday afternoon if we are going to get back to winning ways.

Yeovil's season continues on Saturday afternoon as Grimsby Town are the visitors to Huish Park. Kick off is at3:00PM.
