Match Report: Yeovil Town v Bromley

Yeovil Town made it two wins in three days as they saw off play off hopefuls Bromley 2-1 at Huish Park. Lawson D'Ath put the home side ahead after 10 minutes but a mistake from loan keeper Ted Cann allowed George Alexander to tap home mid way into the first half. Tom Knowles restored Yeovil's lead with just under 20 minutes to go and they were able to see the game out for the win.

Darren Sarll made two changes to the side that beat Dover at the weekend. Jordan Barnett dropped to the bench while Adi Yussuf was called up for international duty. Lawson D'Ath and Reuben Reid took their places.

Yeovil lined up in their familiar 4-3-3 formation with Mark Little, Josh Staunton, Ben Barclay and Morgan Williams in front of Ted Cann. Matt Worthington, Dale Gorman and Lawson D'Ath made up the midfield while Charlie Wakefield, Reuben Reid and Tom Knowles lead the attack.

On the bench was Jordan Barnett, Alex Bradley, Olufela Olomola, Josh Neufville and Luke Wilkinson.

Bromley kicked off towards the home terrace.

Yeovil made a positive start to the half and tested the Bromley keeper after just three minutes. Matt Worthington won the ball and drove forward with pace and eventually found Reuben Reid who's shot had to be pushed over the bar for a corner kick. The corner was taken short and worked to the corner of the box but the shot produced was again saved well.

Yeovil continued to pile on the early pressure and they got their reward after just 10 minutes as a low cross into the box found Lawson D'Ath who had a simple finish from close range.

Bromley were struggling to keep Yeovil at bay and they again tested Ellery Balacombe in the Bromley goal with shots from Reuben Reid being saved.

With just under 20 minutes played Yeovil almost doubled the lead in emphatic style as Tom Knowles went on a superb run and almost capped it off with a wonder goal from 30 yards but it struck the post and away.

Two minutes later though the game was level as a simple cross into the box was spilled by Ted Cann and Graham Alexander had an easy tap in to level the scores. It was a bit of a sucker punch for Town as they had been the far superior side but they were now back on level terms.

The half continued with Yeovil playing with confidence. A Dale Gorman free kick on 28 minutes had to be pushed over the bar as again the Bromley keeper made a decent save.

Yeovil survived a scare on 38 minutes as Graham Alexander found himself running through on goal but Ted Cann was able to smother the ball and keep the game level.

Three minutes of time was added on at the end of the half and the teams were level at the break.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 1-1 Bromley

Bromley made their first substitution at half time as Connor Parsons was replaced by Liam Trotter.

Yeovil continued to play well in the second half but they weren't able to keep up the amount of shots that they had in the first half.

Bromley made their second substitution on 56 minutes as George Alexander was replaced by James Alibi.

12 minutes later Yeovil made their first substitution as Lawson D'Ath was replaced by Josh Neufville.

Neufville made an almost immediate impact as three minutes later he fed in Tom Knowles who's close range finish restored Yeovil's lead.

Bromley made their final substitution on 73 minutes as Jude Arthurs was replaced by Mason Bloomfield.

One minute later Yeovil replaced Josh Staunton with Luke Wilkinson.

With 15 minutes left to play there were strong appeals for a penalty as Tom Knowles was brought down in the box. The linesman waved his flag to get the attention of the referee but after the ball had gone out of play the referee awarded a free kick just outside the area which was met with large protests from the home faithful.

The free kick was crossed to the far post and Luke Wilkinson got his head on it but couldn't direct it at goal.

As full time approached it was getting a little nervy and Yeovil survived a scare on 85 minutes as Ted Cann came out to collect a loose ball but ended up losing the ball and Bromley put the ball in the back of the net but it was flagged for offside.

Yeovil made their final substitution on 86 minutes as Charlie Wakefield was replaced by Olufela Olomola.

Four minutes of time was added and Yeovil were able to see the game out for the victory.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 2-1 Bromley

This was a much improved performance from Yeovil and the victory was fully deserved. Had it not been for the Bromley keeper the score could have been higher but all that matters is that we got the job done.

Yeovil's season continues on Saturday afternoon as Southend United are the visitors to Huish Park. Kick off is at 3:00PM
