Match Report: Yeovil Town v Southend United

Yeovil Town made it three wins in a row this afternoon as they saw off Southend United 2-0 at Huish Park. Goals from Reuben Reid and Tom Knowles with the first 8 minutes of the game was enough to give Town the points in a game that they were in control of throughout.

Darren Sarll made one change to the side that beat Bromley in midweek as Luke Wilkinson replaced Josh Staunton who dropped to the bench.

Yeovil lined up in their usual 4-3-3 formation with Mark Little, Luke Wilkinson, Ben Barclay and Morgan Williams in front of Grant Smith. Matt Worthington, Dale Gorman and Lawson D'Ath made up the midfield while Charlie Wakefield, Reuben Reid and Tom Knowles lead the attack.

On the bench was Jordan Barnett, Alex Bradley, Josh Neufville, Olufela Olomola and Josh Staunton.

A minutes applause was held before the game as a mark of respect for Lee Collins who's passing was a year ago on the 31st March.

Southend kicked off towards the home terrace.

Yeovil made a blistering start to the game and found themselves 1-0 up inside the opening four minutes. A corner from the right hand side was defended but Lawson D'Ath was able to put the ball back in and Reuben Reid was able to slot the ball home from close range.

Four minutes later Yeovil made it 2-0 as Charlie Wakefield put in a superb low cross from the left and Tom Knowles was able to slam the ball past Steve Arnold.

Yeovil were in control of the game not only in terms of the score but also the play. While the chances for Yeovil were now much rarer they weren't in any danger from Southend.

Town almost made it 3-0 just before half time as Reuben Reid found Tom Knowles with a brilliant pass and his effort was headed clear on the line.

Four minutes of time was added on at the end of the half and Yeovil went in with a fully deserved lead.
