Match Report: Barnet v Yeovil Town

Charlie Lee's first game as Yeovil Town boss saw The Glovers pick up a point at Barnet thanks to an entertaining 2-2 draw. Tom Knowles put Yeovil ahead after 8 minutes but Barnet hit back through Ephron Mason-Clarke mid way into the first half. The home side then took the lead on 70 minutes through Adam Marrriott but Reuben Reid levelled with just under 10 minutes to go and Yeovil returned to Somerset with a deserved point.

Charlie Lee named the same starting XI that beat Southend United 2-0 the previous week. The only change was on the bench as Sonny Blu Lo-Everton replaced Josh Staunton.

Yeovil lined up in a 4-4-2 formation with Mark Little, Luke Wilkinson, Ben Barclay and Morgan Williams in front of Ted Cann. Matt Worthington, Dale Gorman, Lawson D'Ath and Tom Knowles made up the midfield while Charlie Wakefield and Reuben Reid lead the attack.

On the bench was Jordan Barnett, Alex Bradley, Olufela Olomola, Josh Neufville and Sonny Blu Lo-Everton.

Barnet kicked off towards the away end.

The home side suffered an early injury blow as Sam Woods had to be replaced by Ryan De Havilland after just 3 minutes.

Things went from bad to worse for the home side as Yeovil took the lead on 8 minutes in rather comical fashion. Barnet were awarded a free kick inside the Yeovil half but they lost the ball immediately after mis-communication allowed Tom Knowles to nick the ball and charge forward on goal. His shot from the edge of the box beat Jake Askew to leave Barnet red faced from their terrible free kick.

Yeovil continued to play some neat football but they had to be weary of Barnet as they got a warning on 20 minutes when Luke Wilkinson and Mark Little had to make clearances to preserve the lead.

Shortly after though Barnet got the goal they had been searching for when Rob Hall found Mason Ephron-Clark who's shot rebounded off the underside of the bar and into the back of the net.

The remainder of the half was pretty even and neither side were producing much in the way of clear cut chances.

Four added minutes were given at the end of the half and the teams went in level at the break.

Half Time: Barnet 1-1 Yeovil Town

The second half continued with the game being an even affair and neither side looking threatening.

Yeovil made their first substitution on 62 minutes as Lawson D'Ath was replaced by Sonny Blu Lo-Everton.

With 20 minutes to go Barnet took the lead as a loose ball in the midfield allowed Rob Hall to run forward and fed in Adam Marriott who's shot beat Ted Cann and gave the home side the lead.

Yeovil responded by taking off Charlie Wakefield in favour of Josh Neufville.

Barnet's lead lasted only 12 minutes as Yeovil pulled the game level again with 8 minutes to go. Gorman's ball into the box from the left hand side fell to Reuben Reid who's effort found the back of the net.

The final 8 minutes saw Yeovil put on the pressure in search of the winner.

Five minutes of additional time was given and Yeovil could return to Somerset with a deserved point.

Full Time: Barnet 2-2 Yeovil Town

It was an entertaining game and a draw was probably a fair result. Charlie Lee has picked up his first point as Yeovil manager and he will be hoping to pick up his first win next week when we make a long journey to Kings Lynn Town.

Yeovil's season continues on Tuesday evening as Odd Down are the visitors to Huish Park in the Somerset Premier Cup. Kick off is at 7:45PM
