Match Report - Yeovil Town v Chorley

Yeovil Town salvaged a draw this afternoon against the league's bottom side at Huish Park in a game that saw Yeovil repeat their poor performance at Woking last weekend. Despite the difference in league positions Chorley were able to frustrate the home side and it was only after Chorley had been reduced to 10 men that Yeovil were able to rescue a point.

Darren Sarll made four changes to the side that went down 1-0 at Woking last weekend - Marc Richards returned to side as Liam O'Brien made his first league start since his injury at Solihull back in September. Craig Alcock came in at right-back and Matt Worthington also returned to the starting eleven.

The game started off slowly for both sides with neither team threatening each others goal. It looked as though Yeovil would suffer an early injury blow as Myles Hippolyte went down injured on 8 minutes but thankfully he was deemed OK to play on.

As the first half progressed it was clear to see that Yeovil were still lacking in creativity as they were last weekend. Town did have their chances though and Chorley keeper Matt Urwin made some decent saves to keep it at 0-0

On 28 minutes Chorley nearly took the lead as a cross into the box found a Chorley player un-marked however Yeovil were saved as the ball bobbled over his foot which was a huge relief for the home side.

Just before half time Rhys Murphy had a penalty shout waved away as he seemed to have been fouled inside the box. The outcome however was a free kick to Chorley and Murphy was shown a yellow card.

In first half stoppage time Chorley took the lead as Connor Hall slotted the ball past O'Brien to give the away side a 1-0 lead at half time.

Half Time - Yeovil Town 0-1 Chorley

The second half was much the same as the first half from Yeovil's perspective as they continued to struggle to play with any rhythm. Their free flowing passing that they have shown numerous times this season had disappeared as Yeovil struggled to attack with any real intent.

Carl Dickinson almost found the back of the net from a free kick on the right hand side of the box as his cross/shot rebounded off the bar.

Yeovil were given some hope of salvaging a result from the game when Chorley goalscorer Connor Hall was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Albi Skendi on 72 minutes.

Despite having a man advantage Yeovil still struggled to press home this advantage and at times were almost punished for giving the ball away cheaply as Chorley were able to catch Yeovil on the break.

As the end of the 90 minutes drew closer many Yeovil fans had thought we were heading for our second 1-0 loss in a row until Marc Richards bundled the ball over the line to level the game.

5 minutes of time was added on and Yeovil almost snatched the lead at the death as a Marc Richards header flashed narrowly wide.

Full Time - Yeovil Town 1-1 Chorley

So another disappointing display for Yeovil which sees us drop more points to league leaders Barrow. Yeovil were really struggling today to play any free flowing football and the lack of off the ball movement was largely to blame. The players seemed very lethargic which is unusual for Yeovil this season and we can only hope that the last two performances are a minor blip.

The result sees Yeovil drop to 4th place, 9 points behind Barrow who beat Torquay 2-1 at home today. Harrogate's draw at home to Aldershot means they stay second while Halifax sneak into third thanks to a 2-1 home win over Bromley.
