Match Report: Taunton Town v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town's pre-season began with a 0-0 stalemate with Taunton Town at Wordsworth Drive yesterday evening. Both sides had their chances but neither team could find their way through in a game with few clear-cut chances.

New Yeovil manager Chris Hargreaves fielded a strong lineup which featured a number of trialists. Grant Smith, Morgan Williams, Josh Staunton, Matt Worthington, Max Hunt and Tom Knowles made the starting lineup while new signings Sam Perry, Jamie Reckord and Malachy Lenton also made the lineup alongside two trialists.

On the bench was Max Evans, Olly Haste, Toby Stephens, Benjani Junior and a number of trialists.

Taunton kicked off towards the home end.

The first half was a very even affair with few chances from either team. Taunton did look the more dangerous when they did go forward but Yeovil were always able to deal with their attacks.

With 33 minutes gone Taunton came very close to taking the lead as Grant Smith parried a shot straight into the path of a Taunton player who's shot was blocked on the line.

Two minutes later Yeovil came close themselves after a free kick from the left was crossed into the center of the box and headed on by Max hunt but Taunton keeper Will Buse was able to claw the ball away on the line.

Half Time: Taunton Town 0-0 Yeovil Town

Yeovil made a substitution at half time, replacing a trialist with another trialist.

10 minutes into the second half Yeovil were awarded a penalty. Tom Knowles stepped up but his low shot was saved.

Just after the penalty save Matt Worthington, Josh Staunton, Tom Knowles and Sam Perry were all replaced by trialists.

10 minutes later another trialist made an appearance as Malachi Linton was subbed.

The rest of the game was a tame affair with neither team looking threatening and after Jamie Reckord was also subbed for a trialist the game was brought to an end.
