Man of the Match Voting for Yeovil v Boreham Wood Yeovil town claimed only their second draw of the 2019-20 campaign this afternoon as an early Jimmy Smith goal was cancelled out late on by Boreham Wood's Kabongo Tshimanga. Next Fixture
Dover Athletic v Yeovil Town Latest Result Yeovil Town 3-1 Dartford Attendance: 5,701 (115 from Dartford) National League (South) Table Last Updated: 15/04/2024
Yeovil made a bright start to the game which was rewarded on 7 minutes. Chris Dagnall chased down a loose ball to deliver an inch perfect cross to allow Jimmy Smith to volley the ball past Nathan Ashmore.
Yeovil continued to press and Jimmy Smith had the ball in the back of the net again a few minutes after the goal but it was ruled out for a foul on Nathan Ashmore.
The remainder of the first half was rather flat as Yeovil failed to keep up the tempo of the opening 20 minutes. Boreham Wood were starting to have more possession and were able to limit Yeovil to half chances.
The second half saw Boreham Wood dominate the game as Yeovil were unable to re-gain control of the match. The passing, movement and creativity was second best all half and Boreham Wood were carving out good chances.
As the game grew older it was looking more and more likely that Boreham Wood would get the goal they deserved and in the 91st minute they did just that. Former Yeovil Town player Kabongo Tshimanga weaved his way through the Yeovil defence and fired in from the edge of the box to level the scores.
With both Bromley and Halifax losing today a win for Yeovil would have seen them move to the top of the table. Instead they move into 2nd place with 35 points, one point behind leaders Bromley with a game in hand.
Man of the Match Voting for this result is now open and will remain open until just after our FA Cup fixture at home to Hartlepool next weekend. You can cast your vote here.
