Man of the Match Voting for Yeovil v Aldershot

Yeovil Town twice came from behind tonight as they drew 2-2 with Aldershot Town at Huish Park. A penalty mid-way through the first half gave Aldershot the lead but Yeovil pulled the game back level as Albi Skendi netted with half time approaching. The visitors would take the lead again in the second half through Jack Powell but Rhys Murphy earned Yeovil a draw from the penalty spot.

After Saturdays 3-3 draw with Wrexham at the Racecourse Yeovil were looking to back it up with a home victory against struggling Aldershot. The first half opened with neither side making any clear cut chances. Aldershot looked to be slightly more in control but it wasn't enough to worry the home faithful.

27 minutes into the match and Yeovil gave away a penalty as Jack Powell was brought down just inside the area after Yeovil had failed to clear a corner. Ethan Chislett stepped up and sent Nelson the wrong way to give the away side the lead.

The lead wouldn't last long though as just 11 minutes later as a long throw-in from Myles Hippolyte found Albi Skendi who's turn and shot found the back of the net.

Half Time Yeovil Town 1-1 Aldershot Town

The second half started with Yeovil looking much more comfortable on the ball and began to create some good chances. However, Aldershot managed to play their way back into the game and on 56 minutes a free kick from Jack Powell coupled with a bad mistake by Stuart Nelson gave the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Yeovil were resorting to going more direct which wasn't pretty on the eye but they were managing to force out opportunities and keep Aldershot at bay.

Rhys Murphy then had the perfect opportunity to draw Yeovil level again as he stepped up to take a penalty. Although Mitch Walker guessed the right way it was too far into the bottom corner and Murphy claimed his 13th goal of the campaign.

As the remainder of the match was played out it looked more and more likely that the game was heading for a draw. Aldershot were more than happy to see the game out for a point and in the end it was a well earned point for Yeovil.

Full Time Yeovil Town 2-2 Aldershot Town

As we have seen recently this team has plenty of goals but the issue of keeping them out at the other end of the pitch still remains. Yeovil will have to be much more solid at the back when they face Bromley on Saturday at Hayes Lane.
