Yeovil took the lead just 3 minutes into the game as Myles Hippolyte's cross found Jimmy Smith who gave the ball to Murphy to fire it home.
Wrexham were sprung into life after the early goal and drew the match level on 22 minutes as Akil Wright netted from Ben Tollitt's cross.
Substitute Albi Skendi was involved in the build up to Yeovil's second as a brilliant pass found Murphy who made no mistake to fire Yeovil back in front on 39 minutes.
Right on the stroke of half time Wrexham were level again as a thunderous 25 yard strike from Paul Rutherford flew into the back of the net to ensure both teams went in all square at half time.
2 minutes into the second half and Wrexham were in front for the first time in the match as Bobby Grant poked the ball past Nelson.
That wasn't the end of the scoring though as Yeovil were level once again on 67 minutes as Murphy got his hat trick by capitalising on a mishit clearance.
Both sides had chances to win the game but it ended all square which was probably the fairest result on reflection of the game.
