Match Report - Dorchester Town v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town got their second win of their pre-season campaign tonight as they overcame Southern League side Dorchester Town at The Avenue Stadium. Goals from Jack Clarke and Carl Dickinson were enough to give Town the victory in what is looking likely to be the last pre-season game that supporters can attend.

Darren Sarll once again named a strong starting line-up with only the goalkeeper being a trialist. Dan Leadbitter, Luke Wilkinson, Josh Staunton and Carl Dickinson made up the back four while the midfield was compromised of Charlie Lee, Jack Clarke, Lawson D'Ath, Jimmy Smith and Albi Skendi. Rhys Murphy lead the front line on his own.

The first half was fairly un-eventful for the most part as a lot of the play was in midfield. Yeovil were looking very organised and were having plenty of the ball but they weren't able to carve out any clear-cut opportunities for large parts of the half.

Dorchester were having similar issues with creating chances and the first 35 minutes of the game passed with no real scares for either side.

Out of no-where Yeovil nearly took the lead on 35 minutes as a shot from Dan Leadbitter smashed against the crossbar but didn't bounce over the line.

4 minutes later though Yeovil took the lead after a shot from Jack Clarke was deflected which caught the Dorchester keeper out and it nestled into the bottom corner to give Town the lead.

Half Time: Dorchester Town 0-1 Yeovil Town

The second half started well for Yeovil as they almost made it 2-0 just five minutes into the second half. Some neat football from Yeovil allowed Rhys Murphy to lay the ball to Lawson D'Ath but his shot was just wide of the post.

On 57 minutes Yeovil made their first substitutions as Rhys Murphy and Dan Leadbitter were replaced by a trialist and Courtney Duffus.

The trialist almost made an immediate impact in the game as he almost got Yeovil's second goal on 64 minutes but the Dorchester keeper was equal to the shot.

Yeovil made further substitutions on 72 minutes as Lawson D'Ath and Charlie Lee made way for Matt Worthington and Gabby Rogers. 9 minutes later Yeovils final change was to bring Alex John on for Albi Skendi.

As the clock ticked down Dorchester were applying some late pressure and they almost turned that pressure into an equaliser but somehow the trialist keeper was able to produce a fantastic save to preserve Yeovil's 1-0 advantage.

Right at the end of the game Carl Dickinson grabbed Yeovil's second goal as he stepped up to take a free kick from outside the area and he bent his shot over the wall and into the bottom corner.

Full Time: Dorchester Town 0-2 Yeovil Town
