Match Report: Wealdstone v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw with Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale this afternoon in a game where the hosts had to play with 10 men for over 80 minutes. Lewis Kinsella was shown a straight red card after clashing with Malachi Linton but Yeovil weren't able to take advantage of this and were struggling to put them under pressure.

Chris Hargreaves made one change to the side that beat Dagenham 1-0 on Saturday. Lawson D'Ath was dropped from the side as Sam Perry returned to the starting XI.

Yeovil again opted for a 3-5-2 formation with Alfie Pond, Josh Staunton and Ben Richards-Everton in front of Grant Smith. Morgan Williams, Matt Worthington, Sam Perry, Jamie Reckord and Gime Toure made up the midfield while Alex Fisher and Malachi Linton lead the attack.

On the bench was Max Hunt, Jake Scrimshaw, Chiori Johnson, Charlie Wakefield and Callum Rowe.

Yeovil kicked off towards the home terrace.

Yeovil made a bright start to the game, forcing a corner within the first 20 seconds but nothing came of it.

With only 9 minutes gone Wealdstone were reduced to 10 men as Lewis Kinsella appeared to have kicked out after a tussle with Malachi Linton. The referee then swiftly showed him the red card and Yeovil now had a great opportunity to go on and win the game.

Yeovil needed to be patient though and grind their opponents down but they were finding chances hard to come by.

Yeovil almost took the lead on 30 minutes though when a corner from the right was headed on by Ben Richards-Everton but Max Kretzschmar was able to head the ball off the line.

On 38 minutes another decent chance came for Yeovil when Jamie Reckord's cross found Alex Fisher but his effort was over the bar.

Half Time: Wealdstone 0-0 Yeovil Town

Yeovil made a substitution at half time as Sam Perry was replaced by Charlie Wakefield.

Yeovil continued to struggle during the second half and were struggling to be creative in front of goal, often giving the ball away cheaply and not being prepared to take the game to the opposition.

Wealdstone made their first substitution on 65 minutes as Max Kretzschmar was replaced by Alex Dyer.

Just one minute later Yeovil were gifted a chance to take the lead when they won a penalty when Malachi Linton was fouled in the box. He then stepped up to take but but he blazed his effort over the bar.

Yeovil made their second substitution on 70 minutes as Alex Fisher was replaced by Jake Scrimshaw.

Shortly afterwards Wealdstone replaced Tarryn Allarakhia with Dominic Hutchinson.

Yeovil were being frustrated on the pitch and they just couldn't find the inspiration to break down their opponents. Yeovil weren't under much threat but they weren't much of a threat themselves and it was looking more and more likely that we simply weren't going to score.

Yeovil made their final substitution on 82 minutes as Malachi Linton was replaced by Callum Rowe. Wealdstone also made their last substitution as Stephen Browne was replaced by Jordy Mongoy.

Six minutes of time was added on but Yeovil couldn't find a way through and they had to return to Somerset with just a point.

Full Time: Wealdstone 0-0 Yeovil Town

It was a very frustrating game this afternoon and many Yeovil fans left the ground feeling a bit dejected on that performance. To have a man advantage for so long and not be able to take advantage is frustrating but Yeovil now need to dust themselves down and go again next week against York.
