Chris Hargreaves made two changes to the side that drew with Wealdstone on Monday afternoon. Alfie Pond left the club in the week to join Wolves, Matt Worthington was dropped from the side and Gime Toure dropped to the bench. Max Hunt, Lawson D'Ath and Charlie Wakefield took their places.
Yeovil opted for a 3-5-2 formation with Max Hunt, Josh Staunton and Ben Richards-Everton in front of Grant Smith. Morgan Williams, Lawson D'Ath, Sam Perry, Jamie Reckord and Charlie Wakefield made up the midfield while Alex Fisher and Malachi Linton lead the front line.
On the bench was Gime Toure, Jake Scrimshaw, Sam Pearson, Chiori Johnson and Owen Bevan.
York City kicked off towards the home end.
The opening 10 minutes were a scrappy affair with both sides trying to settle into the game.
Few chances were being created for either side but as time went on it was becoming apparent that York City were the side in more control.
The only chance of note for either side during the half went to York City as Grant Smith had to tip a shot from Lenell John-Lewis over the bar. The resulting corner came to nothing.
Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-0 York City
The second half saw few chances as well and the game wasn't very entertaining.
Yeovil made a double substitution on 60 minutes as Morgan Williams and Malachi Linton were replaced by Sam Pearson and Gime Toure.
5 minutes later York made their only substitution of the game as Alex Hurst was replaced by Scott Boden.
With 20 minutes to go Yeovil conceded a penalty as Josh Staunton handled the ball in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Lenell John-Lewis stepped up to take it but his shot straight down the middle was saved with Grant Smith's legs and he was able to react the quickest to gather the rebound.
Just 10 minutes later though John-Lewis made up for the penalty as he controlled a low cross into the box and got a shot off that was heavily deflected into the back of the net.
Yeovil then replaced Alex Fisher with Chiori Johnson as their last substitution.
The final 10 minutes saw Yeovil struggled to get forward with any sort of urgency.
3 minutes of time was added on and Yeovil almost levelled when a corner was crossed to the center but Chiori Johnson's header hit the bar.
Full Time: Yeovil Town 0-1 York City
The game was very flat today, Yeovil just couldn't get going and much like we saw at Wealdstone on Monday we weren't very creative at all. These issues will need to be addressed before we take on Woking next Saturday.
