Match Report: Yeovil Town v Boreham Wood

Yeovil Town were once again held to a draw this afternoon as a 1-1 stalemate at Huish Park with Boreham Wood meant Yeovil now have six draws in 10 games. Alex Fisher gave Yeovil the lead on 39 minutes but Jack Payne pulled it level just 6 minutes later. Yeovil went in search for a winner in the second half but it just didn't happen.

Chris Hargreaves made three changes to the side that drew with Chesterfield last weekend. Owen Bevan was out with international duty and replaced by Morgan Williams. Malachi Linton took a place on the bench while Chiori Johnson was dropped from the side and replaced by Charlie Wakefield and Alex Fisher.

Yeovil opted for a 3-4-3 formation with Morgan Williams, Josh Staunton and Ben Richards-Everton in front of Grant Smith. Charlie Wakefield, Matt Worthington, Lawson D'Ath and Jamie Reckord made up the midfield while Sam Pearson, Alex Fisher and Gime Toure lead the front line.

On the bench was Max Hunt, Jake Scrimshaw, Malachi Linton, Finley Craske and Will Buse.

The game started very quietly with neither side getting into threatening positions but Yeovil were able to settle in as time went on.

Yeovil had a great chance to take the lead on 18 minutes when Gime Toure was through one-on-one with Nathan Ashmore but for some reason he didn't get a shot away and the chance was wasted.

Yeovil were able to get shots on goal and test Nathan Ashmore but he was equal to every effort and produced some fine saves to keep the scores level.

Eventually Yeovil's pressure paid off as they took the lead 6 minutes before half time. Gime Toure's shot was parried into the path of Alex Fisher who was able to slot the ball home from close range.

As has been the case for much of the season now Yeovil couldn't hold onto the lead and 6 minutes later Yeovil conceded when the defence failed to clear their lines and Jack Payne fired home.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 1-1 Boreham Wood

Neither side made substitutions at half time and Yeovil continued to play some good football.

Boreham Wood made substitutions on 54 and 61 minutes as Danny Elliott was replaced by Danny Newton and then Josh Rees was replaced by George Braodbent.

Yeovil came agonisingly close to re-taking the lead on 68 minutes as a corner was almost bundled over the line but somehow the Boreham Wood defence were able to claw it away.

The game began to get a bit lively in the last 20 minutes as Boreham Wood were giving away lots of fouls and the referee appeared to not be in control of the game, frustrating the home fans and raising the tensions on and off the pitch.

Yeovil made their only substitutions on 80 minutes when Sam Pearson and Alex Fisher were replaced by Jake Scrimshaw and Malachi Linton.

Boreham Wood's final substitution was on 84 minutes as Zac Brunt was replaced by George Williams.

Four minutes of time was added on and Yeovil were once again left to share the points.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 1-1 Boreham Wood

Just like last week against Chesterfield, Yeovil put in a very good performance and had enough chances to win today. Nathan Ashmore made some good saves and a bit of bad luck contributed to Yeovil not finding the goal they needed in the second half. If we can keep up the good performances wins will start to follow.
