Match Report: Buckland Athletic v Yeovil Town

The pre-season campaign got underway this afternoon as Yeovil Town travelled to Western League side Buckland Athletic and came away with a deserved 4-0 win. Yeovil fielded two different starting XIs during the game, and both teams kept a clean sheet and scored two goals.

The opening 45 minutes saw Lewis Williams, Morgan Williams, Josh Staunton, Ollie Haste, Will Dawes, Josh Owers, Trialist, Benjani Jr, Jordan Stevens, Malachi Linton & Jake Hyde take the field.

Within 7 minutes Yeovil were ahead when a free kick from Jordan Stevens found the bottom corner.

Yeovil were in control of the game and were creating some half chances but nothing came of them.

Morgan Williams had to be replaced by Jacob Shore on 31 minutes after picking up an injury 10 minutes earlier and just 1 minute later Yeovil were 2-0 ahead. Jake Hyde was able to tap the ball home after a few shots had been blocked.

Yeovil fielded Will Buse, Trialist, Jamie Sendles-White, Jake Wannell, Alex Whittle, Charlie Cooper, Jordan Young, Jordan Maguire-Drew, Matt Worthington, Frank Nouble & Rhys Murphy for the second half.

Just like in the first half Yeovil found a goal early on as Frank Nouble's superb effort flew past Andy Collings to put Town 3-0 up.

Buckland had a few chances of their own during the second half, but each time Will Buse was there to make some good saves to keep them out.

Jordan Maguire-Drew hit the bar on 72 minutes after Jordan Young won the ball back and allowed Maguire-Drew to shoot from the edge of the area.

With 5 minutes left to play Yeovil got their fourth after a nice team move allowed Jordan Maguire-Drew to pick out Matt Worthington who's cool finish capped off a good Yeovil performance.

Overall it was a good start to pre-season. Yeovil put in a good performance and played some neat football. Pre-season continues on Tuesday night when we make the trip to Wimborne Town. Kick off is at 7:30PM.
