Match Report: Wimborne Town v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town's second pre-season game finished in a narrow 2-1 defeat at Southern League side Wimborne Town.

Yeovil's starting XI was Will Buse, Trialist, Josh Staunton, Jake Wannell, Alex Whittle, Charlie Cooper, Jordan Stevens, Jordan Maguire-Drew, Matt Worthington, Franke Nouble and Rhys Murphy.

Town struggled in the first half as Wimborne were the more lively side. After just three minutes Yeovil were behind when a defensive mistake allowed Wimborne to take the lead with a shot into the bottom corner.

Wimborne continued to play some neat football and put Will Buse under some pressure who was able to step up to the task when called upon.

Midway through the half Matt Worthington had to be replaced by Josh Owers as he picked up an injury.

When Yeovil did get forward they weren't able to make the most of their attacks and they rarely threatened a goal during the first half.

Mark Cooper made two changes at half time, as Jake Hyde and Jordan Young replaced Jordan Stevens and Rhys Murphy.

It didn't take long for Hyde to have an impact as was there to tap the ball home after some nice build-up play from Yeovil.

Plenty of substitutions were made during the second half: Will Buse for Lewis Williams (61), Matt Buse for Jacob Shore (72), Josh Staunton for Jamie Sendles-White (61), Jake Wannell for Ollie Haste (66), Alex Whittle for Will Dawes (61), Chharlie Cooper for Trialist (66), Jordan Maguire-Drew for Benjani Jr (66) and Frank Nouble for Malachi Linton (61).

Town were playing better during the second half and had a few chances of their own but some wayward shooting let them down.

With just over 20 minutes to go Wimborne re-took the lead when Wimborne got in behind the Yeovil defence and a squared ball was tapped in from close range.

Yeovil continued to play some better football but again couldn't find the goal they needed and they faced their first defeat of pre-season.
