Match Report: Tiverton Town v Yeovil Town

Yeovil's third pre-season fixture saw them overturn Tiverton Town 4-2 at Ladysmead. A dominant first half display saw Yeovil score four goals, with Rhys Murphy grabbing three of them. The second half was a much tamer affair and Tiverton pulled two goals back to make the score more respectable.

Yeovil named a strong starting lineup of Will Buse, Morgan Williams, Josh Staunton, Jake Wannell, Alex Whittle, Zac Bell, Charlie Cooper, Jordan Stevens, Jordan Maguire-Drew, Frank Nouble and Rhys Murphy.

It only took Yeovil five minutes to take the lead. Tiverton failed to to deal with a longball forward from Buse and Frank Nouble was able to play in Rhys Murphy who chipped Saunders to put Town ahead.

10 minutes later Town were 2-0 ahead when Saunders tried to take the ball around Murphy. He was dispossessed and Murphy had an easy tap-in.

Yeovil continued to play well during the half and on 32 minutes Frank Nouble got on the scoresheet when he beat the offside trap for a simple finish.

With 5 minutes to go until half time Rhys Murphy won a penalty and slotted it into the bottom right corner to give Town a commanding lead at half time.

Half Time: Tiverton Town 0-4 Yeovil Town

Yeovil made three subs at half time, Will Buse, Charlie Cooper and Alex Whittle were replaced by Lewis Williams, Josh Owers and Will Dawes.

With the game pretty much won Yeovil didn't need to put as much pressure on Tiverton and they just wanted to see the game out.

On 52 minutes Jordan Maguire-Drew had to replaced by Jordan Young for picking up an injury.

On 55 minutes Tiverton pulled a goal back when a short corner was eventually crossed in and a Tiverton player turned it home.

Yeovil made further substitutions on 63 minutes when Rhys Murphy, Jake Wannell and Frank Nouble were replaced by Malachi Linton, Ollie Haste and a trialist.

More subs were made on 70 minutes as Jordan Stevens, Josh Staunton, Morgan Williams and Zac Bell were replaced by Benjani Jr, Aidan Skiverton, Jamie Sendles-White and Matt Worthington. Sendles-White only lasted four minutes before being replaced by Jacob Shore.

With 6 minutes to go Tiverton got their second consolation goal when the ball fell for Jack Rice and put the ball in past Williams.
