Match Report: AFC Totton v Yeovil Town

Yeovil's pre-season form continued yesterday afternoon as Town came away from AFC Totton with a 2-1 victory. An early goal from Rhys Murphy put Town in command and substitute Olly Thomas doubled the lead mid-way into the second half. Totton pulled one back through Matt Burrows with 20 minutes remaining but Town were able to see the game out.

Yeovil fielded Will Buse, Morgan Williams, Jamie Sendles-White, Jake Wannell, Alex Whittle, Zac Bell, Matt Worthington, Charlie Cooper, Jordan Maguire-Drew, Frank Nouble and Rhys Murphy.

With just two minutes played Yeovil were ahead when Jordan Maguire-Drew's effort was blocked and Murphy was there to fire in the re-bound.

Will Buse was called into action on 14 minutes when a free kick to the far post found Charlie Kennedy but his header was well saved.

The game was fairly even for the first half with both sides playing some neat football. The Yeovil defence didn't appear to be as solid as they had been in previous games and Will Buse was having to make a few routine saves when the defence didn't pressure the attack.

Half Time: AFC Totton 0-1 Yeovil Town

Yeovil didn't make any changes at half time and were struggling in defence. On 50 minutes ex-Yeovil player Jake Scrimshaw broke through and was 1 on 1 with Buse who made a great save to keep Town ahead.

Yeovil made a substitution on 60 minutes when Rhys Murphy was replaced for Olly Thomas.

Three minutes later Jordan Maguire-Drew was replaced by a trialist, who was Sonny Blu Lo-Everton.

On 66 minutes Olly Thomas showed what he was capable of when Lo-Everton intercepted the ball and fed it to Thomas who's cool finish off the post doubled the lead.

Yeovil Then replaced Alex Whittle with Will Dawes and Frank Nouble for Jordan Young.

With 20 minutes remaining Totton pulled a goal back when Yeovil lost the ball on the wide right and Totton broke free. A cross into the box found Matt Burrows who turned it home.

On 75 minutes Yeovil replaced Will Buse, Jamie Sendles-White and Charlie Cooper for Lewis Williams, Josh Owers and Josh Staunton.

Five minutes later Zac Bell was replaced by Jacob Shore.

Neither side had any further opportunities in the final 10 minutes and Town came away with a deserved victory.
