Mark Cooper made just one change to the starting XI that beat Worthing on Saturday as Will Dawes dropped to the bench for Jordan Stevens.
Yeovil once again opted for 4-4-2 with Alex Whittle, Jake Wannell, Morgan Williams and Michael Smith in front of Joe Day. Jordan Stevens, Matt Worthington, Josh Owers and Jordan Young were in midfield while Frank Nouble and Rhys Murphy were up front.
On the bench was Jake Hyde, Jordan Maguire-Drew, Will Dawes, Sonny Cox and Josh Staunton.
The first half was pretty much all Yeovil and it didn't take long for us to open the scoring. After just 7 minutes a free kick from Jordan Young was put to the back post and ended up in the net. Officially it was given as a Jordan Young goal but it looked like it took a deflection off a Weymouth defender.
Yeovil were pressing their opponents and getting forward time after time. Weymouth were finding it hard to deal with Yeovil's play and weren't able to put any pressure on Town.
As the half progressed Weymouth began to sit quite deep which played into Yeovil's hands as we were able to get forward and push them further into their own half.
For all their good play though Yeovil weren't able to create any clear cut chances and had a narrow advantage at half time.
Half Time: Yeovil Town 1-0 Weymouth
Early into the second half Weymouth made two substitutions as Thomson and O'Connell came on for Joel Rollinson and Elliot Bolton.
The second half ended up being quite flat and Weymouth began to get forward as Yeovil were giving the ball away cheaply and not getting forward with the same intensity as they did during the first half.
Yeovil were given a warning on 60 minutes when a cross from a corner kick was headed over the bar by Calvin Brooks.
Three minutes later Weymouth were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area but Keelan O'Connell's shot was straight at Joe Day.
Yeovil made a double substitution on 68 minutes when Rhys Murphy and Frank Nouble was replaced by Sonny Cox and Jake Hyde.
With just under 20 minutes to go Weymouth spurned a golden chance to equalise when Thomson's ball to the far post was somehow put wide by Dan Roberts.
On 72 minutes Yeovil made their last change as Jordan Stevens made way for Will Dawes.
Two minutes later Weymouth spurned another good chance when Ezio Touray just couldn't quite get enough on a cross from Dan Roberts. Yeovil were really struggling now and Weymouth were looking the more dangerous side.
Fortunately for Yeovil, that was as close as Weymouth got to an equalising goal. The final 10 minutes were always going to be nervy with a narrow advantage but Yeovil were able to battle hard to keep their lead.
5 minutes of time was added on and right at the death Yeovil made the game completely safe when substitute Jake Hyde was able to fire home from close range.
Full Time: Yeovil Town 2-0 Weymouth
No matter the league positions of either side, derby games are always completely up in the air and Yeovil managed to get the job done tonight. First half Yeovil were superb but they lost their way in the second half and left the door open for the visitors to equalise. In the end it matters little, three points on the board, 4 points clear at the top and 9 wins in a row in front of a fantastic crowd.
Yeovil's next fixture is on Saturday as Braintree Town visit Huish Park. Kick off is at 3:00PM.
