Rich opened with the sad news of the passing of Lee Collins, condolences sent from the group to his family. Over the years the Club have been through a lot however this is the biggest shock, the outcome has brought all fans back together, along with the Club as one
and hope that this continues.
Thanks to be passed to Nick Crittenden for all his work, through playing and current role, who will be missed when he leaves his role at the end of the month.
Minutes from last meeting
The minutes from the last meeting have not yet been agreed by the GT. The GT are still to review and comment. Due to the personal circumstances the minutes have not been able to be checked by the individual who attended. GT to update group on progress.
All others have agreed the recent minutes.
Expansion of Alliance Group
The question was raised as to whether other supporter groups can join the Alliance. Agreed that it is possible that other groups can be invited, under the same agreement and conditions, however the Alliance will initially reach out to all supporters, document and show what each group stands for and show they have representatives of all supporters of the Club. Agreed for now anyone can discuss their concerns/questions via any of the current group. They don’t need to belong to one of these groups, they can approach the groups who will then liaise with the Club on the issues concerned.
Action – all groups to prepare statement of their group.
RR – There has been an emotional few weeks due to the passing of our Captain. The supporters have come together to show support. This shows we should be showing recognition for ex-players. For example - Len Harris – 691 appearances over 14 years. A memorial for him was mentioned in 2010, and again in 2017 mentioned but nothing yet. Discussed is now the time to do a memorial for ex-players over the years. Suggestion made to have Lee Collins memorial that also recognises the previous players.
JH – the memorial garden is full, and we know we need to find an alternative. With the development of the land this will be taken into consideration at that point
RR – Social Media comments made against the Owners, Managers, Players and Staff within the Club is not acceptable and he feels that this is a disgrace that ‘fans’ are saying these about the Club and other supporters, and it is not acceptable, especially now all need to show unity moving forward. Social Media can’t be controlled, is their own opinions and difficult to address however supporters should be showing unity.
Discussion held regarding fans being allowed back and rules surrounding process and capacity – Club are waiting further information from the NL/DCMS.
Lee Collins tributes/fundraising/awareness
MC – there is a charity bike ride being planned in Lee’s honour by going to all Clubs he played for. It will raise awareness and donations for charities. This will be next season.
Recognition to SW for the crowdfunding he started to Lee’s family – this is now at £6K.
SS – Looking into a sportsman dinner at the Club and the guest will donate his fee to charity.
Fundraising in place for a flag to be designed and printed in memory of Lee.
