Match Report - Yeovil Town v Solihull Moors

Yeovil Town got revenge on Solihull Moors this evening as a perfect hat trick from Joe Quigley gave Yeovil Town all three points at Huish Park tonight. After Solihull Moors inflicted a heavy defeat on The Glovers on Saturday afternoon Yeovil responded with a good performance and Joe Quigley's perfect hat trick that included a diving header as well a goal with both feet was the highlight of the night.

Darren Sarll made three changes to the side that was beaten 5-1 by the same opposition at the weekend. Luke Wilkinson was dropped from the side while Matt Worthington and Rhys Murphy dropped to the bench as Charlie Lee, Josh Neufville and Chris Dagnall regained their places in the starting XI.

On the bench was Max Hunt, Emmanuel Sonupe, Matt Worthington, Reuben Reid and Rhys Murphy.

Yeovil Town lined up in a 4-4-2 formation with Carl Dickinson, Billy Sass-Davies, Albi Skendi and Michael Kelly in front of Adam Smith. Charlie Lee, Tom Knowles, Josh Neufville and Jimmy Smith made up the midfield while Joe Quigley and Chris Dagnall lead the attack.

Solihull kick off towards the home terrace.

The opening 20 or so minutes was a scrappy affair as neither side created any clear cut chances. Solihull though did made the better start to the game and had the better of the opening exchanges but Yeovil managed to settle fairly quickly and were matching their opponents.

Solihull won the first corner on 14 minutes on the right hand side. James Ball played it low to the edge of the box to Joe Sbarra who's first time shot just drifted wide of the target.

Yeovil then won their first corner of the game on 19 minutes which was taken by Tom Knowles on the right hand side. His cross to the far post found Charlie Lee who headed it back across the box but it was eventually headed wide of the target.

Suddenly the game sprang to life as Yeovil won a penalty on 25 minutes as Joe Quigley was fouled just inside the box. Joe Quigley stepped up and shot low to the goal keepers right who managed to make the save by deflecting the ball onto the underside of the bar. As the ball bounced out Joe Quigley was able to rush forward and his diving header bundled the ball over the line.

Yeovil won their second corner on 28 minutes on the left which was taken by Carl Dickinson. His cross to the center of the box was headed goalwards by Joe Quigley but a defender managed to clear the ball off the line.

Solihull almost levelled the game in spectacular fashion as Jordan Cranston unleashed a dipping shot from 35 yards that almost caught Adam Smith out but it didn't dip low enough and it was just over the bar.

Just 1 minute later another cracking shot from distance this time from a free kick by Kyle Hudlin which rebounded off the outside of the post and away much to the relief of Adam Smith.

Yeovil won another corner on 37 minutes on the right hand side but the cross into the box was easily defended.

1 minute of time was added on and Yeovil went in at the break with a 1-0 advantage.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 1-0 Solihull Moors

Solihull won the first corner of the second half on 51 minutes on the left hand side. Jordan Cranston crossed the ball into the center of the box but it was cleared away by Charlie Lee.

Out of nowhere Yeovil then increased their lead as nice build up play allowed Carl Dickinson to cross the ball to Joe Quigley who slid in and guided the ball into the back of the net and take a more firm grip on the game.

Solihull made their first substitution on 56 minutes as Kyle Storer was replaced by Adam Rooney.

Yeovil made their first substitution shortly after on 60 minutes as Charlie Lee was replaced by Matt Worthington.

Solihull then made their second substitution on 62 minutes as Joe Sbarra was replaced by Alex Addai.

On 65 minutes Yeovil almost went 3-0 up as Josh Neufville ran through in the box and poked the ball goal wards but it flashed wide of the far post.

On 71 minutes Joe Quigley completed his hat trick as a long free kick into the box from Tom Knowles was knocked into the path of Joe Quigley who's cracking shot found the top corner and Yeovil now had full control of the tie with just under 20 minutes to play.

On 76 minutes Yeovil made their second substitution as Tom Knowles was replaced by Emmanuel Sonupe.

Despite being firmly in control of the game Yeovil continued to push forward and won a corner on 79 minutes on the right hand side but Matt Worthington's cross to the center of the box was pushed away by Ryan Boot.

Solihull made their final substitution on 81 minutes as Kyle Hudlin was replaced by Mitch Hancox.

Solihull were searching for a late consolation and they won a corner on 85 minutes on the right hand side which was crossed into the box by Jordan Cranston but it was punched clear by Adam Smith.

Yeovil made their final substitution on 86 minutes as Chris Dagnall was replaced by Rhys Murphy.

7 minutes of time was added on at the end of the game which was rather surprising given that there weren't any large stoppages but it mattered little and Yeovil ran out worthy winners.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 3-0 Solihull Moors

The performance today was much improved from Saturday and Yeovil can now put the 5-1 defeat behind them and hopefully continue to pick up some good results as we near the end of the season. Our ambitions of reaching the play offs were rather far fetched some time ago now but hopefully we can look forward to some more positive Yeovil Town performances over these last 8 games.

Our season continues on Saturday afternoon as Yeovil make the trip to London to face Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale.
