Match Report - Solihull Moors v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town and were held to a 0-0 draw at Solihull Moors yesterday afternoon in a match that saw both sides reduced to 10 men within the space of 9 second half minutes. Yeovil looked the slightly better side in the first half but Solihull came back at us in the second and were applying more of the pressure but neither side could find the winning goal.

Darren Sarll named an unchanged starting XI from the team that beat Woking in mid-week.

Yeovil lined up in their usual 4-4-2 formation with Dan Moss, Josh Staunton, Max Hunt and Jack Robinson in front of Grant Smith. Matt Worthington, Dale Gorman, Jordan Barnett and Tom Knowles made up the midfield while Charlie Wakefield and Adi Yussuf lead the attack.

On the bench was Max Evans, Sonny Blu Lo-Everton, Alex Bradley, Toby Stephens and Joe Quigley.

Solihull kicked off attacking the home terrace.

The first half saw little in the way of clear cut chances but it was Yeovil who looked the better of the two teams.

Yeovil won the first corner after just 1 minute on the right hand side which was crossed to the center of the box but it was cleared away.

The best chance of the game came to Solihull Moors on 20 minutes as a free kick from the left hand side was crossed to James Ball who had a free header but it was way over the bar.

The remainder of the half again saw few chances for either side with Yeovil edging the play.

Yeovil almost took the lead on 40 minutes as an Adi Yussuf shot was deflected just wide. The resulting corner was poor as the ball curled straight out of play.

Half Time: Solihull Moors 0-0 Yeovil Town

Solihull improved in the second half and were the team applying more of the pressure but again chances were at a premium.

On 60 minutes Yeovil were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area and Dale Gorman fired the ball low at the bottom right corner but Ryan Boot was able to smother the ball.

Three minutes later Yeovil were given a numerical advantage as Ryan Cranston was shown a straight red card for a coming together with Tom Knowles.

Solihull made their first substitution on 67 minutes as as James Ball was replaced by Jamey Osborne.

Yeovil's numerical advantage didn't last long though as Max Hunt was shown a straight red card for pulling down Andy Dallas when he was clean through on goal on 70 minutes. The resulting free kick was fired over the bar.

Yeovil then made a double substitution on 72 minutes as Charlie Wakefield was replaced by Joe Quigley and Adi Yussuf was replaced by Sonny Blu Lo-Everton.

Solihull won a corner on 76 minutes and before it was taken they made their second and final substitution as Joe Sbarra was replaced by Adam Rooney. The corner was crossed to the center of the box but Grant Smith was able to punch the ball clear.

Yeovil won a corner of their own on 79 minutes which was crossed to the far post but a foul was given and the danger was gone.

Yeovil made their final substitution on 86 minutes as Tom Knowles was replaced by Alex Bradley.

Four minutes of time was added on at the end of the game and despite some late pressure from Solihull Moors the points were shared.

Full Time: Solihull Moors 0-0 Yeovil Town

The result was a fair reflection of the game and Yeovil will certainly see it as a positive result. Solihull have been on a great run of form of late and to go their home ground and return with a well deserved point is good. The game itself wasn't particularly inspiring with it being flat at times but the result was worth it.

Yeovil's season continues on Saturday afternooon as Yeovil make the short trip to Yate Town in the FA Cup 1st Round. Kick off is at 3PM
