Match Report: Yeovil Town v Boreham Wood

Yeovil Town came from 2-0 down to draw with Boreham Wood at Huish Park this afternoon. A lackluster first half performance saw Town 2-0 down at the break but Morgan Williams pulled a goal back on 58 minutes and just 7 minutes later it was level as Luke Wilkinson's superb free kick levelled the scores.

Charlie Lee made three changes to the side that drew with Wealdstone last Monday. Ben Barclay and Adi Yussuf dropped to the bench while Sonny Blu Lo-Everton was dropped from the side. Mark Little, Max Hunt and Dale Gorman took their places.

Yeovil opted for what appeared to be a 5-3-2 formation with Morgan Williams, Mark Little, Luke Wilkinson, Max Hunt and Jack Robinson in front of Grant Smith. Lawson D'Ath, Dale Gorman and Matt Worthington made up the midfield while Tom Knowles and Josh Neufville lead the attack.

On the bench was Jordan Barnett, Reuben Reid, Alex Bradley, Ben Barclay and Adi Yussuf.

Boreham Wood kicked off towards the home end.

Yeovil weren't particularly good in the first half and they fell behind after just 10 minutes as poor defending allowed Jacob Mendy to put the ball across the box from the left hand side and Tyrone Marsh had a simple tap in to give the away side the lead.

Yeovil were given a golden opportunity to level the scores on 16 minutes as they were awarded a penalty. Tom Knowles was brought down in the box and the linesman flagged for a penalty which prompted the referee to point to the spot. Dale Gorman stepped up but his shot to the left side of the goal was parried and the chance was gone.

Yeovil continued to struggle in the half and they fell further behind on 26 minutes as Dennon Lewis nicked the ball of Dale Gorman in midfield and Yeovil stopped playing for a moment thinking the referee was going to award a foul. No foul was given and Lewis ran through on goal and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

The remainder of the half saw little in the way of clear cut chances and Yeovil went in with a lot of work to do in the second half.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-2 Boreham Wood

Yeovil improved in the second half were trying to make more of a game of it.

Just before the hour mark Yeovil pulled a goal back as a long throw into the box from Tom Knowles wasn't dealt with and Morgan Williams was able to divert the ball into the net.

Just 7 minutes later it was 2-2 as Yeovil were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Luke Wilkinson stepped up to take it and he expertly curled the ball around the wall and took Boreham Wood keeper Nathan Ashmore by surprise as he watched the ball nestle into the corner of the net.

The game from that point on was a very even affair with neither side threatening to take the lead.

Boreham Wood made their first and only substitution on 81 minutes as Scott Boden was replaced by Adrian Clifton.

Yeovil then made their first substitution as Mark Little was replaced by Reuben Reid.

Four minutes of time was added on and after Yeovil replaced both Matt Worthington and Max Hunt with Jordan Barnett and Ben Barclay the sides settled for a point.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 2-2 Boreham Wood

In the end a draw was a fair result as Boreham Wood were completely in-effective in the second half and Yeovil took advantage of that. It was the final home league game of the season but there's still more action at Huish Park coming up as the Somerset Premier Cup Final is being held at Huish Park on Tuesday night and next Saturday is the YTFC Legends vs South West Legends fixture.

Yeovil's season continues on Tuesday evening as Bath City travel to Huish Park in the Somerset Premier Cup Final. Kick off is at 7:45PM
