Match Report: Weston-super-Mare v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town won their final pre-season fixture at Weston-super-Mare this afternoon as an Alex Fisher penalty on 8 minutes was enough to win the game. Once again Yeovil struggled to create chances throughout but the defence again looked solid as Weston could rarely get forward.

Once again Yeovil fielded a strong starting XI which included Grant Smith, Morgan Williams, Max Hunt, Malachi Linton, Alex Fisher, Tom Knowles, Jamie Reckord, Josh Staunton, new signing Ben Richards-Everton, Matt Worthington and Charlie Wakefield.

On the bench was Ollie Hulbert, Finley Craske, Sam Perry, Sam Pearson, Max Evans, Chiori Johnson and a number of trialists.

Weston kicked off towards the home terrace.

Yeovil made the more positive start to the game and made a few half chances in the opening 5 minutes.

With 8 minutes gone Yeovil were awarded a penalty and Alex Fisher stepped up and expertly fired the ball into the bottom left corner.

Yeovil continued to play positive football but creating clear cut chances was difficult and they didn't threaten to score another goal.

Weston's only real chance of the half came on 31 minutes when ex-Glover Reuben Reid fired a shot at goal but it was straight at Grant Smith.

Half Time: Weston-super-Mare 0-1 Yeovil Town

Once again Yeovil made a bright start to the half, creating a few half-chances but didn't do enough to trouble the Weston defence.

Yeovil made their first substitution on 48 minutes as Jamie Reckor was replaced by a trialist.

On 54 minutes Yeovil came close to doubling their advantage as Malachi Linton did well to create space for a shot but it hit the side netting.

Yeovil made a triple substitution on 58 minutes as Charlie Wakefield, Matt Worthington and Malachi Linton were replaced by Sam Pearson, Sam Perry and a trialist.

With 20 minutes to go Alex Fisher was replaced by Ollie Hulbert.

The game was becoming very flat with neither side creating any opportunities. The final 20 minutes saw no chances for either side and the game ended with Yeovil taking the victory.
