Match Report: Bromley v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town suffered their first defeat in 7 league games yesterday afternoon as they were beaten 4-1 by play-off chasing Bromley at Hayes Lane. The home side went in front after 9 minutes through Louis Dennis and Besart Topalloj made it 2-0 just after the half hour mark. Louis Dennis got Bromleys third after 63 minutes but Yeovil pulled one back shortly after through Andrew Oluwabori. Corey Whitely added a fourth on 87 minutes to send Yeovil home well beaten.

Mark Cooper made three changes to the side that beat Torquay United 2-0 on New Years Day. Lawson D'Ath, Alex Fisher and Andrew Oluwabori regained their starting XI places while Malachi Linton was benched and Owen Bevan and Jamie Andrews were dropped.

Yeovil opted for a 4-3-3 formation with Jamie Reckord, Max Hunt, Ben Richards-Everton and Morgan Williams in front of Grant Smith. Mat Worthington, Josh Staunton and Lawson D'Ath made up the midfield while Andrew Oluwabori, Alex Fisher and Jordan Magiure-Drew lead the attack.

On the bench was Jordan Young, Malachi Linton, Chiori Johnson, Will Buse and Charlie Cooper.

Bromley kicked off towards the home end.

The game started fairly evenly until the home side took the lead after 9 minutes. Louis Dennis unleashed a shot that took a heavy deflection and looped over Grant Smith to put the home side in front.

Yeovil did have some half chances throughout the first half, particularly on 32 minutes when Andrew Oluwabori was through on goal but his touch was poor and the chance had gone.

Shortly after Bromley made it 2-0 wen Besart Topalloj fired home from the edge of the area.

Yeovil were again presented with a good chance to reduce the deficit when Oluwabori was through on goal again but his effort was high and wide.

Half Time: Bromley 2-0 Yeovil Town

On 55 minutes Yeovil thought they had pulled a goal back when Matt Worthington headed the ball home from a cross from Oluwabori but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Yeovil made their first substitution on 59 minutes when Lawson D'Ath was replaced by Jordan Young.

4 minutes later Bromley made it 3-0 when Kellen Fisher fired home from close range after being fed in from Harry Forster.

Just two minutes later Yeovil pulled one back when Alex Fisher crossed the ball in to Andrew Oluwabori who fired home.

Yeovil made their second and last substitution on 70 minutes when Max Hunt was replaced by Malachi Linton.

Bromley then made their first substitution on 73 minutes when James Vennings was replaced by Billy Bingham.

Yeovil had a big ask to get back into the game, 3-1 down with just 20 minutes to play meant it would need a huge team effort to salvage a draw.

With 3 minutes left on the clock, Bromley made it 4-1 when Corey Whitely tapped home from close range.

Bromley made their final substitutions shortly after, as Louis Dennis and Harry Forster were replaced by George Alexander and Ben Krauhaus.

Full Time: Bromley 4-1 Yeovil Town

Despite the disappointment of the result, we shouldn't be too disheartened. Mark Cooper had done an excellent job so far and unfortunately this side needs a lot of improvement to be a tougher nut to crack. I still feel that we will be OK in the end, keep the faith.
