Match Report: Yeovil Town v Woking

The takeover party was spoiled yesterday afternoon by Darren Sarll's Woking as they came away from Huish Park with a 1-0 victory. Kyran Lofthouse put the away side in front after 14 minutes and Yeovil again struggled to be creative in front of goal and a narrow defeat left Yeovil just above the drop zone.

Mark Cooper made four changes to the side that drew with Altrincham in midweek. Matt Worthington, Jordan Young, Josh Staunton and new signing Jordan Stevens took a place in the lineup as Josh Owers and Seb Palmer-Houlden were benched and Lawson D'Ath and Ryan Law was dropped.

Yeovil opted for a 5-3-2 formation with Jamie Reckord, Owen Bevan, Josh Staunton, Morgan Williams and Edwin Agbaje in front of Grant Smith. Matt Worthington, Jordan Stevens and Charlie Cooper made up the midfield while Jordan Young and Alex Fisher lead the attack.

On the bench was Jordan Maguire-Drew, Josh Owers, Chiori Johnson, Seb Palmer-Houlden and Andrew Oluwabori.

Woking kicked off towards the home end.

It only took three minutes for Woking to show that they were dangerous when a header at the back post was palmed away by Grant Smith, and the follow up shot was weak.

Woking went on to take the lead on 14 minutes when some poor defending saw Yeovil fail to deal with the ball in the box Kyran Lofthouse fired it home to put the away side in front.

Woking were the side in control, which was to be expected given their position in the league. Yeovil weren't able to put Woking under any real pressure, and the lack of a threat up front made the game very comfortable for Woking.

Former Yeovil manager Darren Sarll was yellow carded on the touchline on 27 minutes when he made his feelings known to the officials regarding an incident involving Charlie Cooper and Jim Kellermann.

The rest of the half passed without further incident and Yeovil went in trailing at the break.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-1 Woking

Neither side made changes at half time but Yeovil came out playing with a higher tempo and trying to haul themselves back into the game.

Jordan Young hit the bar on 51 minutes when his free kick caught out Will Jaaskelinan who expected a cross but the ball didn't dip low enough in time.

Yeovil made their first substitution on 65 minutes when Edwin Agbaje was replaced by Andrew Oluwabori.

The second half saw very few chances for either side, and it almost became a complete non-event. Yeovil just weren't able to put Woking under enough pressure and the away side were completely comfortable with the 1-0 advantage.

Yeovil made their second and final substitution on 83 minutes when Alex Fisher was replaced by Seb Palmer-Houlden.

Perhaps the best chance to equalise came on 88 minutes when Jordan Young used his pace to get through but his effort was just wide of the post.

Full Time: Yeovil Town 0-1 Woking

The atmosphere at Huish Park today was much more pleasurable with the news of new owners at the club. While there is excellent news there the reality is that we are still very much in a relegation scrap and need to put in match winning performances for the whole game, not just the second half.
