Mark Cooper made two changes to the side that was beaten 1-0 by Woking at the weekend. Alex Fisher and Edwin Agbaje both dropped to the bench as Jordan Maguire-Drew and Ryan Law took their places.
Yeovil opted for a 5-3-2 formation with Jamie Reckord, Owen Bevan, Josh Staunton, Morgan Williams and Ryan Law in front of Grant Smith. Matt Worthington, Jordan Stevens and Charlie Cooper made up the middle while Jordan Young and Jordan Maguire-Drew lead the attack.
On the bench was Lawson D'Ath, Alex Fisher, Reo Griffiths, Andrew Oluwabori and Edwin Agbaje.
The first half saw Yeovil play some neat football, but lacked the cutting edge to take the lead.
After just two minutes Yeovil had to make a substitution as Morgan Williams had to be replaced by Edwin Agbaje after picking up an injury.
The first chance for either side came on 13 minutes for the visitors when a cross across the box wasn't met by any of the on-rushing players.
With 20 minutes gone strong appeals for a Yeovil penalty were waved away when Jordan Young rounded the Eastleigh goalkeeper and was brought down. The referee remained unmoved and waved away the appeals.
Yeovil continued to play some neat football and on 25 minutes a Jordan Maguire-Drew shot from the right side of the box had to be pushed over the bar.
The rest of the half saw Yeovil applying pressure and limiting the away side from creating anything of their own, but the game was all square at half time.
Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-0 Eastleigh
The second half continued with Yeovil playing on the front foot.
On 50 minutes numerous chances in succession were blocked on their way to the goal for Yeovil as Matt Worthington, Ryan Law and Jamie Reckord were left frustrated by their lack of luck in front of goal.
However, 15 minutes later Yeovil took the lead when a cross to the far post was met by Matt Worthington who rose well and headed the ball over Joe McDonnell to send the home fans wild.
Shortly after Jordan Maguire-Drew was replaced by Alex Fisher.
Although Yeovil were playing so well it was still hard to not feel nervous, for all of our good play it would only take one mistake for Eastleigh to level the game, and given our lowly league position any win we can get is a huge boost.
With 8 minutes to go it became a bit easier to hold on when Eastleigh were reduced to 10 men. Osseynou Cisse picked up his second yellow card and Yeovil now had a man advantage as well as a goal advantage.
Jordan Stevens was replaced by Lawson D'Ath with 2 minutes to play and Yeovil kept managing the game well to see the game out.
5 minutes of time was added on but Yeovil were able to see them through to pick up a vital win.
Full Time: Yeovil Town 1-0 Eastleigh
Not only was this a good performance for the whole game, it gave the home crowd some extra excitement about the club. With reduced ticket prices a larger than normal crowd were inside the ground and the team put on a performance that was worthy of the occasion. We now have three away games coming up, where results will have to be picked up to keep our survival bid on course.
