Mark Cooper made two changes to the side that beat Eastleigh in midweek. Morgan Williams and Matt Worthington were both dropped as Lawson D'Ath and Edwin Abgaje took their spots.
Yeovil opted for a 4-3-3 formation with Jamie Reckord, Owen Bevan, Josh Staunton and Edwin Agbaje in front of Grant Smith. Ryan Law Charlie Cooper and Lawson D'Ath made up the middle while Jordan Young, Jordan Stevens and Jordan Maguire-Drew lead the attack.
On the bench was Alex Fisher, Chiori Johnson, Reo Griffiths and Andrew Oluwabori.
The opening 10 or 15 minutes were fairly tame with neither side creating much.
Chesterfield had a penalty appeal waved away on 16 minutes when Ryan Coclough was brought down in the box but the referee waved away the appeals.
Two minutes later Grant Smith made an excellent save when a Chesterfield corner was crossed to the center of the box and Liam Mandeville's goal bound header was pushed over the bar.
The half continued with Yeovil struggling to be creative and the home side not troubling Grant Smith at all.
On 33 minutes the home side were awarded a penalty when Jamie Reckord was adjudged to have handled the ball after a cross was blocked. It seemed harsh since the ball was fired at him from close range but the linesman gave the penalty.
Paul McCallum stepped up and fired the ball down the middle with Grant Smith diving to his right.
With just 2 minutes left until half time Yeovil were level when a cross to the far post from Jordan Young was met by Ryan Law who headed it past Ross Fitzsimons to level the game. Just like at York, I had missed this goal as I was in the bar under the stand!
Half Time: Chesterfield 1-1 Yeovil Town
Neither side made changes at half time and the second half was a quiet affair and there really wasn't much to report on.
Yeovil were playing OK, Chesterfield certainly weren't at their best but Yeovil still had to make sure they kept their focus.
Yeovil's substitutions all came quite late in the game, on 79, 83 and 86 minutes when Jordan Young, Jordan Stevens and Jordan Maguire-Drew were replaced by Andrew Olwuabori, Chiori Johnson and Alex Fisher.
The closest either side came to grabbing a winner came with just three minutes to go for the hosts when a cross in from Liam Mandeville was met by Paul McCallum but his close range header was caught by Grant Smith.
Five minutes of time was added on and Yeovil kept their focus to come away with a well deserved point.
Full Time: Chesterfield 1-1 Yeovil Town
So that's now four points from the last two games that we have taken, both from sides in the top six. We were certainly worthy of the points yesterday and it could give us some confidence going into our next game on Tuesday at Barnet, who are also in the top six. The result see's us four points clear of Gateshead in 21st, who didn't play today as they were in FA Trophy action.
