Match Report: Barnet v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town suffered defeat at The Hive last night as Barnet ran out 2-1 winners. After a quiet first half the home side scored two goals in three second half minutes through Finley Potter and Nicke Kabamba. Jamie Reckord pulled one back shorty after but Yeovil weren't able to pull the game level again.

Mark Cooper made three changes to the side that drew with Chesterfield at the weekend. Charlie Cooper and Edwin Agbaje were dropped to the bench while Jordan Young was dropped completely. Chiori Johnson, Matt Worthington and Malachi Linton all regained their places in the starting XI.

Yeovil opted for a 4-3-3 formation with Jamie Reckord, Owen Bevan, Josh Staunton and Chiori Johnson in front of Grant Smith. Ryan Law, Matt Worthington and Lawson D'Ath were in midfield while Malachi Linton, Jordan Stevens and Jordan Maguire-Drew were up front.

On the bench was Alex Fisher, Reo Griffiths, Charlie Cooper, Andrew Oluwabori and Edwin Abgaje.

The opening was scrappy with Yeovil applying some early pressure. Early chances for Matt Worthington and Ryan Law failed to hit the target as the home side also failed to create anything of note.

As the half wore on the home side began to apply pressure on the Yeovil defence and on 24 minutes a good chance went begging when Jordan Cropper was put through but he spurned the effort wide.

Yeovil had to make their first substitution on 43 minutes as Charlie Cooper replaced Jordan Stevens.

Half Time: Barnet 0-0 Yeovil Town

The second half started off slowly, with the only chance of note coming on 50 minutes for the hosts when a David Moyo header was just over the bar.

Half chances came and went for both sides and Yeovil made their second substitution on 66 minutes when Reo Griffiths replaced Jordan Maguire-Drew.

With 20 minutes to go the game sprang into life. Firstly, Barnet took the lead when a cross in to Finley Potter was headed home.

Three minutes later the hosts doubled the lead when Ryan De Havilland played the ball to Nicke Kabamba who slotted home.

Yeovil then made their last substitution on 74 minutes when Lawson D'Ath was replaced by Alex Fisher.

On 76 minutes Yeovil pulled a goal back when Malachi Linton put in a great cross to Jamie Reckord at the far post who headed home.

The final 15 minutes needed a Yeovil surge to get something from the game but it never really materialised. The only decent chance for Town came on 91 minutes when a Reo Griffiths header was sent straight at Laurie Walker.

Full Time: Barnet 2-1 Yeovil Town

Not the result we wanted yesterday but the focus now has to turn to Halifax on Saturday. On paper that is a much more winnable game and 3 points at The Shay would be a huge boost.
