Match Report: Yeovil Town v Oldham Athletic

Yeovil Town were beaten 3-0 for the second time in 5 days as Oldham Athletic came away from Huish Park with a comfortable victory. Devarn Green put the visitors ahead after just 8 minutes and Yeovil weren't able to recover. Mike Fondup added Oldhams second and third on 73 and 88 minutes to seal the win

Mark Cooper made four changes to the side that was beaten by Wrexham in mid-week. Will Buse suffered a broken hand during last Tuesday's game so Grant Smith took his place in goal. Scott Pollock and Zanda Siziba both dropped to the bench while Owen Bevan was out through injury.

Yeovil opted for a 4-4-2 formation with Jamie Reckord, Miguel Freckleton, Josh Staunton and Chiori Johnson in front of Grant Smith. Matt Worthington, Jack Clarke, Charlie Cooper and Reo Griffiths were in midfield while Andrew Oluwabori and Malachi Linton were up front.

On the bench was Max Hunt, Jordan Young, Zanda Siziba and Scott Pollock.

Yeovil kicked off towards the away end.

Within just 1 minute the away side had a chance to take the lead when Yeovil's defence were all over the place but Freckleton and Staunton were able to scramble the ball wide.

On 8 minutes Oldham were ahead when another bit of poor defending from a low cross allowed Devarn Green to fire home from close range.

Yeovil continued to struggle and were once again creating nothing up front. Oldham were able to keep the pressure on Yeovil but their only real chance to increase the lead came on 24 minutes from a corner. Smith had to make a decent save before the ball ended up striking the bar and Staunton hurried it away.

With no attacking threat it was no surprise that Yeovil went in trailing at half time.

Yeovil made their first change at half time as Jamie Reckord was replaced by Max Hunt.

Oldham almost doubled the lead on 49 minutes when Mark Shelton spotted Smith off his line but his effort hit the bar and Smith gathered the rebound.

Oldham made a double substitution on 57 minutes when Alex Reid and Joe Nuttall were replaced by Mike Fondup and Bassala Sambou.

Yeovil then replaced Reo Griffiths with Zanda Siziba on 60 minutes before replacing Matt Worthington with Jordan Young four minutes later.

Oldham put the result beyond any doubt on 74 minutes when a counter attack from Oldham allowed Bassala Sambou to get in behind the defenders. He laid the ball back to Fondup who was able to slot the ball home for 2-0.

Three minutes before the end it was 3-0 when Fondup got his second with a side-footed finish.
