Match Report: Boreham Wood v Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town ended the 2022-2023 National League season with a 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood. Tyrone Marsh gave the home side the lead on 25 minutes and that was how it stayed, with Boreham Wood confirming their place in the play offs as a result.

Mark Cooper made four changes to the team that lost 3-0 at home to Oldham last week. Max Hunt, Jordan Young, Scott Pollock and Zanda Siziba regained their starting places as Reo Griffiths and Andrew Oluwabori were benched and Jamie Reckord and Matt Worthington were dropped. Just before the game started Josh Staunton had to be switched for Ollie Haste due to him not being able to complete the warmup.

Yeovil opted for a 4-3-3 formation with Miguel Freckleton, Ollie Haste, Max Hunt and Chiori Johnson in front of Grant Smith. Charlie Cooper, Scott Pollock and Jack Clarke were in midfield while Zanda Siziba, Malachi Linton and Jordan Young were up front.

On the bench was Reo Griffiths, Andrew Oluwabori and Benjani Mwaruwari.

Boreham Wood kicked off towards the home end.

Yeovil were playing OK throughout this game, but once again lacked any sort of attacking threat. Whenever we were able to get forward there wasn't an end product as Zanda Siziba and Charlie Cooper were unable to make the most of their opportunities.

With 25 minutes gone Boreham Wood were in front when Tyrone Marsh's header at the back post found the back of the net.

That was pretty much game over, Yeovil rarely score goals and going 1-0 down pretty much spelled another defeat.

The home side were able to settle into the game a bit better after the goal, and no further chances game Yeovils way.

Half Time: Boreham Wood 1-0 Yeovil Town

Boreham Wood made their first substitution at half time as Erico Sousa was replaced by Don Kelly Evans.

Yeovil actually started the second half the brigther team and got some early shots away. Chiori Johnson saw his shot pushed wide by Ashmore as Yeovil put some pressure on the home side.

Yeovil made their first substitution on 56 minutes when Malachi Linton was replaced by Reo Griffiths.

As the half ticked away it was becoming the same old story for Yeovil, too scared to have a shot. On multiple occasions Yeovil got forward but they just didn't have the nerve to have a go.

Yeovil replaced Zanda Siziba with Andrew Olwuabori on 68 minutes.

Boreham Wood replaced Tyrone Marsh with Dennon Lewis on 74 minutes and three minutes later Yeovil replaced Jordan Young with Benjani Mwaruwari.

Very little happened in the last 15 minutes of the game, and most Yeovil fans were just releived that this awful season was over.

Full Time: Boreham Wood 1-0 Yeovil Town

It's over. This season has been dreadful both on and off the pitch. Next season we will be watching National League South football and unless the off the pitch situation is sorted soon we will won't be challenging for promotion with the club in it's current situation.
