Man of the Match Voting for Yeovil v Dover

Yeovil Town fell to a narrow and disappointing 1-0 defeat tonight live on BT Sport. The defeat comes after Yeovil's 4-1 thrashing at home to Hartlepool United in the FA Cup on Tuesday and Town were looking to get back to winning ways which would have seen them go top of the National League for the first time this season. The results before kick off tonight saw Yeovil fall to 5th place but only two points behind leaders Barrow.

The first half belonged to Yeovil as they were able to put Dover under sustained pressure. Plenty of good chances came Yeovil's way but they were unable to be clinical in front of goal as they wasted chance after chance. The only chance worth noting for Dover in the first half was a goalmouth scramble that eventually saw the ball rebound off the crossbar.

Yeovil did have the ball in the back of the net but the celebrations were short lived as it was ruled out for offside.

The second half saw Dover come into the game and were beginning to carve out chances of their own. They took the lead in the 62nd minute as Scott Doe poked the ball past Stuart Nelson.

The goal sparked Yeovil into life again and were again putting Dover under pressure for much of the remainder of the half. Despite some good chances for Yeovil they were unable to find a way through as they fell to a narrow defeat at home.

After last Tuesday's 4-1 defeat to Hartlepool it was encouraging to see the defence look much more comfortable today. Yeovil's downfall was that they were unable to turn the chances into goals tonight as they were very wasteful with the number of opportunities they created.

The defeat sees Yeovil remain in 5th place. It will be an important game next week up at Wrexham as Yeovil will need to get back to winning ways quickly to avoid dropping too far away from the promotion mix. At the moment they are only two points off the top of the table but if Yeovil fail to collect three points despite playing well it won't be long until they start falling down the table.
