Yeovil took the lead just 3 minutes into the match as Hippolyte's cross found Jimmy Smith who gave the ball to Murphy to slam it home.
The early goal shook the hosts into life as they were beginning to put pressure on the Yeovil goal. 22 minutes into the first half and they got their deserved equaliser as Akil Wright comfortably pulled the hosts level from Ben Tollitt's cross.
Luke Wilkinson was forced ten minutes before half time after suffering an injury after defending a set piece - Albi Skendi was the man who replaced him.
It wouldn't take long for Skendi to make his mark on the game as a superb pass found Murphy who got his second of the afternoon and in turn restore Yeovil's advantage.
Right on the stroke of half time Wrexham were once again level as Paul Rutherford's 25 yard strike flew into the back of the net.
The goal-scoring continued early on into the second half as Wrexham took the lead for the first time in the match as Bobby Grant poked the ball home.
This meant Yeovil were forced into having to put pressure on the Wrexham goal once more and 67 minutes into the match that pressure would pay off as Murphy got his hat trick by capitalising on a mis-hit clearance.
Both sides had chances to win the match as substitute Courtney Duffus had an excellent chance to put Yeovil ahead as he found Wrexham keeper Rob Lainton off his line but he was unable to divert the ball home.
In stoppage time Wrexham spurned an excellent chance to win it as Bobby Grant spurned a shot over the bar - much to the relief of the 173 travelling fans.
